Email Sender Qualifier

Build a Lindy that qualifies new email senders, performs research, and delivers insights on them and their company straight to your inbox.

In this tutorial, you'll learn how to get started with a Lindy that:

Filters inbound emails
Performs research on unique senders
Identifies if they are qualified / deserve a response
Sends an email report with key information about the sender and their company

Customize The Email Received Trigger

First, select which email inbox Lindy will observe.

Apply filters to the trigger if you want Lindy to omit certain emails from triggering this workflow.

Review the Condition

This step is optional, only if you want to modify or adjust the existing Condition.

Click the first Condition (Requires response?) under the Email Received trigger.

Now you can customize or modify the Condition that instructs Lindy when to proceed with the following actions.

Unlike other workflow builders, Conditions in Lindy are written in natural language as AI prompts, not as a series of boolean If / Then statements.

This makes it easier to set up conditions and allows for greater nuance in the logic of your workflows.

Search Email Action

The Search Email (Search email history) action finds emails between you and the sender within a specified time period.

You can limit the number of results using the 'Max Results' field.

We recommend keeping the 'Return Complete Body' field off to conserve credits, as we only need to identify unique senders, not retrieve entire email contents.

Under the "Filters" section, add this prompt to the "From" field:

the email address of the sender from the email received trigger

Because Lindy has the context from each trigger and step that follows, Lindy will use this prompt and search in your inbox for emails sent and received from the email sender who triggered the workflow.

Use the prompt below for the “After” field to ensure Lindy looks for email exchanges within the past 12 months:

‍Understanding the Second Condition

The Condition (Unique emailer?) below the Search Email (Search email history) action instructs Lindy to only proceed if there were no emails found between you and the email sender in the past 12 months. There is a second Condition prompt that is used to catch any emailers that were found in the past 12 months. Adding the negation of a Condition helps increase the reliability of Condition handling.

If Emails Were Found

Proceeding the "Not unique" Condition, there is an AI Agent that has zero prompt or skills. This will essentially stop the workflow if an emailer is found "not unique".

People Data Labs Search

The People Data Labs 'Find Person by Email' (Enrich emailer) action enriches contact information using an email address. This feature uses a lead enrichment API to retrieve the most current, accurate data on individuals and their companies.

The "Email" field is set to "Set Manually" (meaning there is no AI involved), and uses the output data from the Email Received trigger to refer to the "from" email of the email sender.

Note: People Data Labs is a Premium Action. This action consumes 40 credits per search result.

AI Agent for Research

The AI Agent (Perform research) step is where you can customize the research Lindy performs on the email sender.

In this example, the prompt tells Lindy to find information about their company, HQ, funding amount, headcount, etc. – but this can be anything you want!

This AI Agent has a Web Browser Search skill, meaning she can perform multiple web searches to aggregate research on the email sender.

Exit Condition

The Exit Condition under the AI Agent tells Lindy when to “exit” (or “jump”) out of the AI Agent “state”.

In this example, the Exit Condition is, “You have performed the web search on the email sender.”

Once Lindy has completed the web search on the sender, she will exit out of the AI Agent and continue to the following actions.

Customize Qualification and Sender Report

In the Send Email (Send emailer bio) action, you can customize exactly how Lindy qualifies your contact and sends you a report.

Make sure you include in your prompt what you need in the email, how an email sender should be qualified, who deserves a response, and what types of contacts can be ignored.

Ensure the “Reply To” field is set to Manually Select and on “user-only”. This means Lindy will reply to the email and send the response to YOUR email only. (not the sender)
