Chat With YouTube Videos

This guide will show you how to use Lindy to instantly summarize a YouTube video and chat with its content.

Save hours of watching YouTube by having Lindy transcribe videos, generate summaries, answer questions, craft collateral, create content, and more!

Start with the Chat With Youtube Videos Lindy that will:

Wake up when a YouTube video URL has been received
Transcribe it’s content
Send you a breakdown of the video
Answer follow-up questions and provide more detail

Understanding the Workflow

If you have not already, add the Chat With Youtube Videos Lindy here.

The first Chat Message Received trigger allows the workflow to be initiated by a user message in the Lindy app versus an event-based trigger. For more details on triggers and how to use them, check out our full guide here.

Once Lindy receives a message from the user, she will move to the YouTube Transcribe Video action. No additional configuration of this step is needed.

The “Url or Video Id” field is set to “Auto” mode by default which means Lindy will use intelligence to infer which URL to use for the field.

Once Lindy transcribes the video, the next step is the Chat Send Message action. Click on the action to see the instructions Lindy will use to deliver you the video breakdown and respond to follow-up questions.

The default prompt in the “Text” field is:

First send the user a descriptive breakdown of the video. Highlight metrics, numbers, key details, names and company information. If the user asks follow-up questions, respond to each one succinctly. Double click on details that the user seems interested in.

Once Lindy receives a response from the user, she will continue to the Condition step.

The Condition step tells Lindy to continue if the user is asking follow-up questions regarding the video transcript or wants more information.

If Lindy receives a response from the user that passes the Condition, she will loop back to the previous Chat Send Message step.

She will repeat this loop for each user chat that satisfies the Condition.

The YouTube video transcript will remain in Lindy’s context window for the full duration of the conversation.

In the task view, send Lindy a URL of a YouTube video (like an episode of your favourite podcast!)

Lindy will instantly provide a breakdown of the video.

You can ask for follow-up information in the same chat window, like specific details on certain topics within the video.

And Lindy will provide instant answers!
